Remote and rustic backcountry touring lodge in the Duffey Lake Provincial Park
Overview
An authentic Canadian backcountry ski touring hut located in the Marriott Basin area of the Duffey Lake Provincial Park. With a partially marked, but well trafficked route, the Wendy Thompson Hut is a suitable venue for intermediate-expert ski tourers looking to stay out in the backcountry and ski the extensive surrounding terrain. With space for up to 16 guests, the hut must be booked in advance and can be booked for exclusive use. With plenty of counter space to prepare meals, a wood stove (with firewood), a nearby water source, lanterns and an outhouse, this hut has everything you need for a multiple night stay.
Location
The trailhead and parking is around 8km north of the Joffre Lake parking area on Highway 99, also known in this region as the Duffey Lake Road. The ski tour takes around 2-3 hours for experienced ski tourers and is located in the Marriott Basin area.
