Backcountry Ski Survival Course
Learn crucial survival skills needed on this overnight backcountry adventure
Spend 1 day in the classroom followed by 2 days in the BC backcountry, learning the foundations of winter backcountry survival. Your guide will focus on several areas including avalanche safety, hazard mitigation, physical survival, shelter building and much more. A fun, factual and challenging 3 days, learning crucial new skills to help prepare you for any backcountry situations you may come across.
This 3-day, action-packed course includes 2 nights winter camping in Whistler's backcountry, 3 days of instruction by an ACMG qualified ski guide and backcountry meals.
Taking place in Whistler's backcountry this course can be booked alone or as part of a longer bespoke ski trip. You will ski tour to a location (depending on conditions) in the Sea-to-Sky corridor.
Designed for skiers an splitboarders who have some backcountry experience and a good level of fitness. You do not need to be an expert in the backcountry, but some knowledge of ski touring equipment use is required.
This course can take place between December and April each year, when Whistler's backcountry has a good base and solid snowpack. It is recommended to book at least 6 months in advance, though we can usually accommodate last-minute requests on a private basis.
This three-day backcountry ski survival course is ideal for those looking to take their backcountry knowledge to the next level.
Following a classroom day in Whistler, you will embark on a 2 day overnight trip into the backcountry. If you can survive 72 hours in the wilderness, then your chances of rescue or self-rescue are greatly increased. This is why we have partnered with Mountain Skills Academy in Whistler to create a unique curriculum to help you gain the skills needed to survive whatever situation you may come across in the backcountry.

Starting from CAD$1,500 per person plus 5% GST
