Up to 6 days' heli-skiing from the deck of your luxurious private 138-foot catamaran, the MV Cascadia. Heli-ski pristine untouched powder runs and first descents from the deck of your yacht from a different private anchorage each day. 8 private cabins with daily massages, a private chef, top-deck hot tub and much more...
Based in remote and beautiful Bella Coola, BC – a short 70 minute flight from Vancouver airport. You will sail through the world’s largest fjord system and heli-ski the world’s most expansive ski area (3.25 million acres), in British Columbia's legendary Coast Mountain Range.
This heli-ski expedition is for the most discerning adventurers, looking for the ultimate bucket list experience – the adventurous skier who seeks the pinnacle in exclusivity, privacy and exhilaration. Terrain can be catered by your private guides for advanced intermediate through to professional level skiers.
Due to the unique and exclusive nature of this expedition, it will run for up to 6 private trips between February and April each season.
A DAY IN THE LIFE
You wake up and open the curtains of your private cabin to see the sun rising over the powder-covered Coast Mountains, the light dancing on the Pacific waters of the Bella Coola fjords. You head to your private dining quarters, where the chef will have a mouth-watering daily menu, or you decide to go for your tried-and-tested smoked salmon eggs benny. You chat over breakfast with your guides, discussing snow conditions, objectives and plan out your day. Goosebumps start to kick in.
You’re waiting on the deck of your private yacht as the pilot fires up your A-star helicopter, and skis and poles are loaded into the basket. Into the heli you jump and suddenly you’re buzzing the snow blanketed peaks as the immense size of Coast Mountain Range starts to kick in. You see untouched powder bowls, winding glaciers and towering couloirs as far as the eye can see – and realize it’s all yours for the taking.
Before you know it you’re stood atop a never-before skied run, clicking into your bindings as the whir of the heli slowly disappears as it drops over the ridge, ready to land and scoop you up at the bottom. Time to drop in. You ski a run like you’ve never skied before – untouched, pristine, coastal powder blasting you in the face as you and your friends hoot-and-holler, and tell each other you think that was the best run you’ve ever skied. Rinse and repeat.
Legs burning, faces aching from the smiles, you fly back to the deck of your yacht, now in a completely different fjord than you left it. Time for a massage. Top that off with a beer in the rooftop hot tub as you take in the 360-degree views and re-live the day with your crew. You think of your friends back in the office and smile.
You chat with your floating lodge host, who suggests either heading off in one of the smaller vessels to catch fresh, world-class Dungeness crab and halibut for your chef to cook up for dinner, or perhaps take the heli out for a trip to your private oceanside hots springs, for another soak. Or perhaps, just relax on the yacht with another beer and take it all in.
Dinner time, and your chef will have a daily 3 course fine dining menu to refuel you after your epic day on the mountain. You recap the day with your friends, and all agree that even with your photo evidence nobody at home will believe how epic this trip is. Maybe it’s best they don’t know. You realize you have 5 more days of this and laugh. Time to retire back to your cabin, ready to do it all over again.
The terrain
On-board the MV Cascadia, you will undoubtedly ski some of the most varied and spectacular ski terrain on the planet. With the ability to change mooring each day, you will get to experience a bit of everything this coastal region has to offer. From summit to sea descents (some of the longest in North America) to sparse, deep glade runs, enormous glaciers and steep, jagged couloirs, this is the the playground for the heli-skier who has seen it all. With brand new tenure (heli-ski area), huge areas of terrain which were previously inaccessible have suddenly opened up, and skiers are guaranteed first descents of mountains which have never seen skiers before.
Summary: the most varied, big mountain terrain out there. One for the veteran heli-skiers and those looking to ski (and name!) first descents.
PRICING
CAD$294,980 + 5% GST +2% Sustainability Surcharge for 5 nights
— includes 14 hours’ flying time, 4 full days’ skiing and up to 2 short days’ skiing
OTHER INCLUSIONS
- Up to 8 skiers/boarders
- 2 professional ski guides (1 guide to 4 guests)
- Return flights between Vancouver and Bella Coola (70 minutes)
- A-Star helicopter for 2 groups of 4 guests (flight time dependent on duration of trip)
- Private, single occupancy, cabins for 7 nights
- All meals (fine dining cuisine) and drinks including alcoholic beverages
- Daily massage treatments
- Hospitality of the MV Cascadia’s experienced captain and crew
- Skis, poles, avalanche air bags and all avalanche safety equipment
Please note: Additional skiers/non-skiers can be added to the primary group of 8 for an additional fee of $4,000 CAD (+ taxes) per person, regardless of the duration of the stay. This covers the incremental cost of ski and safety equipment, guide service, lodging, meals, and return flights from Vancouver to Bella Coola.
Should the group increase beyond the primary group of 8 to a larger group of 12, it is possible to fly 3 groups of 4 guests + 1 guide per group in 1 A-Star helicopter; however, this will impact the pace and the ski program as the additional group in the helicopter adds to the time it takes to fly the group safely into the field in the morning and back to the catamaran in the afternoon.
The catamaran has 8 guest rooms. In order to increase the number of guests on board to above the primary group of 8, additional guests must be partners of existing guests and/or be willing to share a room/bed with the primary group of 8 guests.
As with all of our adventures, if you wish to add any additional days in Vancouver, Whistler or elsewhere, please let us know and we’ll be happy to discuss options with you.
Want to ski first descents from your private catamaran?
Our team has been heli-skiing with Bella Coola on their “regular” trips and to say it is mind-blowing doesn’t do it justice. This trip takes it to the next level.
